Taking a bath can be so restorative (improving circulation and sleep, and reducing pain), but for those with mobility issues or disabilities, bathing in a conventional bathtub may be impossible. One solution to this dilemma is a walk-in bathtub, an ingenious technology developed for those who can’t use a conventional bathtub.

RebathBecause of the increased risk of fall or injury associated with bathing, there are a number of built-in safety features in a walk-in bathtub. For example, a walk-in tub has no high rim to step over, nor is the user required to lower their body down to floor level. The innovative design allows them to simply open the door, step inside, and sit as they would in any chair while the walk-in tub fills quickly and efficiently.

A walk-in tub has a watertight, hinged door with a low threshold (3 to 7 inches in height, versus 15 inches or higher for a regular tub), anti-slip flooring, and grab bars. Once the door is properly latched, the watertight seal is engaged. Quick filling faucets make fast work of filling the tub, and bonus features like a heated seat, help the bather keep warm and comfortable for the duration of the fill. Rapid auto-drain technology helps to empty the tub quickly at the end of the bath.

Walk-in tub safety features include:

  • Swinging door to reduce tripping and slipping
  • Comfortable molded seat and foot rests
  • Easily accessible faucets & handheld shower nozzle
  • Multiple grab bars for safer bathing
  • Slip-resistant tub flooring
  • Optional jetted stream systems to soothe muscle aches and arthritic pain
  • Material that won’t mold, mildew, or crack

Walk-in tub installations typically take anywhere from 2-5 days, depending on the style of tub and any modifications that need to be made to existing bathroom space. Before any installation or remodeling work is performed, we send one of our expert Re-Bath & More teams to your home to give you a free bathroom consultation and provide the most accurate installation estimate.
