Re-Bath & More president Jon Witmer recently appeared on Good Day PA to talk about what’s trending in bathroom remodeling this year.
Here are a few of his highlights:
Universal Design has been a growing trend, and will continue to be for years to come as Baby Boomers decide they want to stay in their homes as they age. Universal Design means designing a space for the widest range of abilities and ages. Thinking not only about what suits your needs now, but what will suit your needs as you get older. The best part? With today’s modern materials and designs, the UD “look” is fun and functional rather than starkly institutional.
Tubs vs showers.
While free-standing tubs are still popular additions in a remodel, the shower is increasingly the focal point of renovation projects. Since more people take showers than baths, dressing up the shower with frameless glass doors and luxurious marble or travertine tile is all the rage.
A new take on subway tile.
The timeless appeal of subway tile gets a modern make-over with different sizes, and materials like porcelain, glass & metal.
Color of the year?
Benjamin Moore’s Simply White. This classic color is a winner in all settings, but combines especially well with the greys that have been so popular the past few years.
Grout be gone!
Dramatic stone materials (think marble, travertine) are now available in large single sheets or panels. Imagine a shower with no grout lines!
Faux finish tiles.
Can’t afford real marble? Get the look with onyx. Can’t put wood floors in the bathroom? Try porcelain tiles designed to look like wood.
