After years of scrubbing their fiber glass bathtub and feeling like they could never get it clean, the Sonnens decided to visit Re-Bath & More’s showroom and set up an in-home design consultation. Like many homeowners, the Sonnens weren’t sure where to start with a bathroom renovation. They wanted something that would last for years to come and look great too without breaking the bank. They also wanted to work with a company they could trust.
After seeing our showroom Mr. and Mrs. Sonnen had some great ideas so their design consultation was simple. They decided to go with our DuraBath SSP material for their tub and surround so Nick brought samples of various colors and patterns so that they could see what would look best in their bathroom. Our DuraBath SSP material is considered a solid surface polymer so it resembles an acrylic but lasts much longer – in fact, it’s got a lifetime warranty. The Sonnen’s loved that it was easy to clean and guaranteed to never crack, chip, or fade like their fiber glass unit had done over the years. They chose a 12” tile pattern in the white marble color with a glossy finish. They also opted for a deco trim to make the white marble surround look more like natural stone.
To match the surround the Sonnens chose a white DuraBath SSP bathtub that would also look great with their black and white tile floor. We work with Moen for all of our fixtures so Nick showed them some options and Mr. and Mrs. Sonnen chose to go with the Rothbury collection in the chrome finish. To finish off the look they also chose a chrome finish for their crescent shaped shower rod.
The Sonnen’s new bathtub and shower features an 18” grab bar so that as they get older they can use it for support getting in and out of the tub. They also added four shelves in the back corner to hold shampoos, soaps etc. One of the unique features of their shower system is the height of the wall surround. Because their bathroom is prone to moisture we extended the surround to the ceiling so they don’t have to worry about water beading up on the drywall above the shower walls. This will help prevent mold and mildew while making the space appear larger thanks to the 12” tile pattern. General rule of thumb – the larger the tile pattern the larger the space will appear. Small 1” tiles may look nice as a back splash but on walls and floors they make a space appear smaller.
Overall the Sonnens were very pleased with their bathroom makeover and we were too. The DuraBath SSP materials are guaranteed for life and all of the Moen fixtures we use come with lifetime warranties as well. This is definitely a bathtub and shower system the Sonnens can enjoy for years to come.
