The Right Plants to Freshen Your Bathroom

Posted on: October 28,2013

Are you looking to add some greenery to your bathroom? Lots of people assume that a live plant in the bathroom won’t survive indoors, so they opt for fake flowers or artificial plants. However, there are actually a number of houseplants that thrive in the bathroom, especially since, with its dampness and humidity, your bathroom can imitate a tropical environment.

At Re-Bath & More we think plants are a great addition to your bathroom. They look great and actually help replenish and freshen the air. Selecting the right plant for your bathroom means you need to think about the size of your space and lighting in the room. With large windows, especially those facing east or west, you can select a wide variety of plants that require more sunlight. However, if you’re working with a small bathroom, you’ll need to select plants with low light requirements. Below is a list of plants that are conducive to the bathroom environment.

Plants for low-light bathrooms:

  • Aloe Vera
  • Bamboo
  • Begonia
  • Boston Fern
  • Cast Iron plant
  • Chinese Evergreen
  • Diffenbachia
  • Ficus Benjamina
  • Heart-Leafed Philodendron
  • Orchid
  • Peace Lily
  • Spider Plant
  • Snake Plant

Plants for bathrooms with lots of light:

  • Asparagus Fern
  • African Violets
  • Azalea
  • Gardenia
  • Kimberley Fern
  • Orchids
  • Prayer Plants
