General Re-Bath® Cleaning Instructions

Use non-abrasive soap and water when possible. Review instructions on cleaner before applying to the installed DuraBath SSP™ material. Never use abrasives. Be sure to thoroughly rinse after each cleaning.

Warning: Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasives, lime removers, toilet bowl cleaners or any chemicals that have not been approved by Re-Bath / AmBath. Use of these chemicals or abrasives will cause a dull surface and/or chemical crazing or cracking of the DuraBath SSP™ material.

Warning: The use of Drano or other harsh chemical drain cleaners is not recommended. The preferred method for cleaning is to remove the drain and use a plumber’s snake. If chemical drain cleaners must be used, use a funnel and proceed cautiously. If the drain cleaner comes into contact with the liner it will cause permanent discoloration or damage to the DuraBath SSP™ material.

Note: Products with an asterisk (*) may cause damage to your glass tub and shower enclosures. Products containing vinegar, bleach, abrasive or soft abrasive powders and liquids, and steel or Teflon pads may damage the metal frame or scratch the surface of the glass.

Cleaning Tips for Hard Water

It is estimated that eighty percent of households across the U.S. have hard water. Hard water is water with a high mineral content. Well water is not the only source of hard water, many households with municipal water also experience hard water. You may have a water softener, but they are only effective if you remember to add salt! Hard water leaves mineral deposits behind as it evaporates. Soap does not later well in hard water and the excess soap forms scum.

Preventing Soap Scum

Hard water is a leading cause of soap scum. The soap scum forms a layer over your shower or tub, and becomes a place for mildew to grow. The following products from our approved cleaning list can be used to fight hard water deposits and soap scum:

  • Clorox Clean-up
  • Clorox Regular
  • Formula 409
  • Rub-A-Dub Tub Scrub
  • X-14 Soap Scum & Bath Cleaner
  • Liquid Comet
  • White vinegar diluted 50/50 with water

Preventing & Removing Mildew Growth on Soap Scum

Mildew does not grow on Re-Bath products, but grows on built up soap scum and bio film. Getting behind on hard water deposits and soap scum is an invitation for mildew. If you do get behind, make a paste with baking soda and bleach. Spread the paste on the affected area, and let it stand until mildew is gone. Use the products above to then prevent the buildup from occurring again. Our tubs and showers are easy to clean, but they are not maintenance free. Staying ahead of the buildup is the key to keeping your system looking like the day it was installed. Happy cleaning!
